This week’s statement from the Music Creators North America coalition demanding greater protections of music creator rights in GenAI settlements and licensing agreements is the lead story on the excellent Complete Music Update news service.
Music Creators North America have called on labels and publishers to commit to deal transparency and creator consent around any agreements they reach with AI companies, such as Universal’s deal with Udio. They join the US Music Artists Coalition and UK Council Of Music Makers in making those demands.”
CMU is a respected news and information provider to the music industry, covering music, music people and the music business, and championing great new artists and releases. Our thanks to Chris Cooke and the CMU team for covering this important statement.
Thanks in addition to Dylan Smith at Digital Music News for also covering the statement and especially for including it in their excellent “Daily Snapshot” newsletter. We greatly appreciate the support.
As UMG and Udio continue to hold their cards close to the vest, Music Creators North America (MCNA) has added its voice to the chorus of demands for deal-terms transparency.”
